Plants

Clerondendrum bungei
(klair-oh-DEN-drum)
Glory Bower
VERBENACEAE

Clerondendrum bungeiClerondendrum have a large genus of about 400 species. This includes evergreen and deciduous trees, shrubs and climbers.

They are generally found in woodland regions of tropical and subtropical areas.

The clerondendrum bungei is a deciduous suckering shrub.

The plant grows well in fertile soil and full sun.

It can be invasive.

Whiteflies, mealy bugs and aphids are very common.

It is gorgeous in bloom especially its deep maroon color since the leaves are tinged in purple.

I love growing this plant and find it to be interesting, a fast grower and a great addition to the garden.

Often this is considered a passalong plant.
