Ligustrum
Privit
OLEACEAE

ligustrumThis is a genus of about 50 evergreen shrubs found in woodlands all over the world. This privit has been used as a hedge for generations.

It grows in most any garden soil in full sun or shade (the variegated species grow better in the sun).

Since they are pruned so much to maintain their hedge function, they are not known for their flowers but white flowers are produced in panicles in the summer or early fall depending where they are grown.

ligustrumVarious species live in zones 5 - 10.

Propagation is by semi-ripe cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in the late autumn or winter.
