Wildflowers and Weeds

Senna obtusifolia
Sicklepod
FABACEAE

SicklepodWhat an interesting plant, with its five petals and pods in the fall. The Sickle-shaped can be eight inches long.

The leaves are alternate and are pinnately compound. The seed pod resembles a sickle, thus the name.

The plant is poisonous and can grow to three feet or more.

It is native to tropical America.

Not really considered a weed, but a wildflower.
