Our HIstory

We brought EmilyCompost live about noon on August 22, 2000 with a quote from Emily, "One can never have enough clay pots."

Our first plant of the week was the Duranta and our first weed of the week (we had not yet mellowed to wildflower) was Datura; a short article on e-jardin, our garden at the time.

We continue to grow, adding photos and articles about plants and wildflowers and garden activities that interest us stressing environmentally consciousness gardening and, of course, composting. We are always grateful when readers share photos, comments, and stories.

One of Emily's former gardensWe still answer e-mail questions, although we may get up to date and add a blog or forum soon.

Patrick Vickery's column from Scotland has been a part of our site for many years.

Our founder and inspiration, the original Emily passed away on July 15, 2004. She was an enthusiastic amateur gardener; a writer, photographer, and creator. She had been gardening for nearly 50 years.
